Val De Vie - Centre Island Cladding

The Val de Vie center island was finished with custom-fabricated copper cladding, manufactured to follow the existing form of the island and provide a continuous metal finish across the visible surfaces.
The process began with taking accurate measurements of the center island and using these dimensions to determine the individual copper panels required for the cladding. The copper sheets were then cut to the required shapes and sizes, allowing each section to correspond with the different faces, corners and transitions of the island.
Once cut, the copper sections were prepared and formed to follow the geometry of the center island. Where required, the sheets were bent and shaped to accommodate the corners and changes in direction, ensuring the cladding could follow the existing structure without unnecessary joints or gaps.

The individual copper panels were then glued around the center island. The sections were carefully aligned during installation to maintain consistent joins and transitions between the panels. Particular attention was given to the corners and edges, where the copper had to meet cleanly between adjoining surfaces.
Once the cladding was fitted, the completed installation was checked across the full island to ensure all sections were securely fixed and followed the existing structure correctly. The copper cladding was then left as the finished exposed surface, allowing the natural characteristics of the material to form part of the final appearance.
