This custom pocket door was manufactured to incorporate Georgian wire cast glass within a powder-coated steel frame. The door was designed as a sliding pocket door, with the complete steel frame, internal glass components and track system fabricated and supplied as part of the installation.

The main door frame was fabricated from 30mm × 30mm square tubing, which was cut and assembled to form the outer structure of the door. The frame was welded together, with the joints cleaned and prepared before the final finish was applied.

The Georgian wire cast glass panels were then incorporated into the frame. 4.5mm thick glass dividers were used to separate the individual glass sections, creating the grid pattern across the door. 25mm × 3mm flat bar was used for the glass guides, while 1.5mm thick glass holders were fabricated to retain and secure the glass within the frame.

Once the steelwork and glass components were assembled, the complete door was prepared for finishing. The steel components were powder coated in a matte black finish, including the frame, dividers, guides and holders. The powder coating provided the final protective finish across the fabricated steelwork.

A compatible pocket door track system was also incorporated into the fabrication, allowing the completed door to slide into the wall cavity and operate as a concealed sliding door.

The installation began with preparing and checking the opening and pocket area to accommodate the door and its track system. The track was installed and levelled to provide the running surface for the sliding door, with the position checked to ensure the door would travel correctly into and out of the pocket.

Once the track system was secured, the completed steel and glass door was carefully positioned and connected to the sliding mechanism. The door was then tested along the full length of its travel to ensure it moved smoothly and aligned correctly within the opening.

Final adjustments were made to the door position and track system where required, ensuring the door sat correctly when closed and disappeared into the pocket when opened. The installation was then checked to confirm that the glass was securely held, the frame was aligned and the sliding mechanism operated correctly.
