Mushroom Lamp
The Mushroom Desk Light is a custom-fabricated aluminium table light, shaped around the soft, rounded silhouette of a mushroom. Designed to sit comfortably on a desk, side table or work surface, its compact proportions and sculptural form make it as much a decorative object as it is a functional light.
The manufacturing process begins with the aluminium components being measured and cut to specification. The 2mm thick aluminium is used to fabricate the base, providing a stable foundation for the desk light, while the 101mm diameter round aluminium tube, with a 2mm wall thickness, forms the central cylindrical stem.
The domed top is fabricated from 1.5mm thick aluminium. The sheet is carefully formed to achieve the characteristic curved profile of the mushroom shade, with attention given to maintaining a smooth and even shape across the surface.
The individual components are then assembled, with the stem positioned centrally between the base and domed shade. Once fabrication is complete, the joints and surfaces are refined to create clean transitions and remove any visible imperfections.
The aluminium is then polished to bring out its reflective character. The curved shade catches and reflects the surrounding environment, while the light emitted from beneath creates a warm, inviting glow across the desk or surface it sits on.
Measuring 300mm in diameter and 350mm high, the Mushroom Desk Light is a compact expression of considered metal fabrication, combining a simple organic form with the character and reflectivity of aluminium.
