Two into One

The production of Coned² begins with the development of two individually designed cones, which are flat patterned, laser cut and carefully rolled from 2mm stainless steel. Forming each cone is only the first challenge, the real complexity lies in blending their different radii into one continuous, flowing curve.
To achieve this, the cones are fully welded together before being rolled a second time, allowing the transition between the two forms to become seamless. The most demanding stage follows during finishing, where the entire surface receives a rounded brushed finish. Unlike conventional straight brushing, this process requires two fabricators working in unison, one controlling the polishing machine while the other carefully positions the cone to maintain a consistent grain around its curved surface.
The final step is integrating the electrical components, which required developing a custom light bulb holder to preserve the clean, minimalist design. The result is Coned², a refined lighting piece where fabrication, finishing, and engineering come together as one.
