Cafe SOfi - Install

For Café Sofi, we fabricated a series of custom stainless steel shelving units designed to fit the proportions and layout of the café. The shelves were fabricated from 5mm thick stainless steel sheet, allowing the structures to maintain a clean, substantial appearance while remaining practical for everyday use.

The individual stainless steel sheets were first cut to the required dimensions before being prepared for assembly. Each section was carefully positioned and welded together to form the shelving units, with attention given to keeping the structure square and maintaining consistent lines across the different sections.

Once welding was complete, the welds were carefully cleaned and refined. Any excess material and visible weld marks were worked back to create smooth transitions between the individual sheets. This step was particularly important as the final finish needed to run consistently across both the welded areas and the surrounding stainless steel.

After the fabrication and weld clean-up were completed, the entire shelving structure was brushed to achieve a satin finish. The brushing process created a consistent grain across the stainless steel, giving the shelves a uniform appearance while retaining the natural character of the material.

The finished shelves were then installed within Café Sofi, creating a clean and functional storage system that integrates directly into the café's interior. The combination of the 5mm stainless steel construction, welded assembly and satin-brushed finish gives the shelving a durable finish suited to a busy hospitality environment.
